happy thanksgiving

I'm at a friends apartment in the upper east side, and I've been drunk since 1 in the afternoon. everyone is older than me (friends of my sister Jane's) I've been binging on wine all day and I can see jane brewing up hot spiked cider out of some sort of caldron from where I'm sitting. I've made a 167 song thanksgiving playlist on my ipod and people seem to like it. it's an eclectic mix of hipster tracks and then 90's pop hits ranging from spice girls to TLC. I can promise you there is absolutely no irony attached to my enjoyment of those tracks. seriously. if you don't know all the words to "wannabe" i can gaurantee you that someone you are with today does.

dinner will happen eventually, i'm sure (right? surely they won't al forget about the large turkey wearing kanya west stunna shades in the oven, right?) i expected Julian to make some sort of contact today. He hasn't yet but i'm figuring in the time difference and giving him the benefit of the doubt.

please excuse any typos. I'm totally fucked right now.

regardless, happy thanksgiving to everyone, everywhere.

after thought at 2 a.m.

After publishing that first post I left school to meet my sister in Williamsburg, where I'm staying over Thanksgiving. I was waiting for her outside some bar around 11 pm, and I met some guys my age who invited me to have a drink with them while I waited. The guy who invited me was sort of hitting on me, but turned out to be socially awkward. His friend and I ending up talking to each other the most, and it turns out we have a lot in common. He is a struggling musician as well who just moved to Brooklyn from North Carolina. Today was his 19th birthday. He asked for my number. And just like that, I met somebody else exactly like me. First new york friend?

goodnight- H

hard to explain

I'm writing this while sitting in the dorm room at ******* college that i share with two other girls (we recently found out we have less room than what is legally required for inmates in state prison...). Even if I wasn't dropping out to make music (well, technically it's a leave of absence but, fingers crossed, I won't be coming back), my parents have told me we can't afford to pay for another year at this over-priced snobfest. OK.

I've told my friends what I'm doing, while we're all drunk (the only way I could find the courage). So what am I doing? Let me break it down for you:

a) leaving college with a grand total of one semester under my belt
b) moving to a rent-stabilized apartment in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that I am subletting from my crazy/beautiful actress sister, we'll call her Jane. My roommate is a struggling writer who works in publishing, we'll call him Jacob.
c) pitching my music to record labels.
d) booking bands for a certain venue in the lower east side, we'll call it Annabelle's.

I fly home in 24 days. I get to see my family and my best fucking friend in the world, Liz. I will also see my ex-boyfriend- we'll call him Julian- who I dated on and off all throughout high school. He was the lead guitarist in my old band. oh boy. I swear I am a real human-being and not a cliche.

OK, that's all for now. happy thanksgiving

p.s. i have to add that the election on nov 4th was my first, and I'm proud to be part of the generation that elected Obama. fuck yeah! Now let's shutdown guantanamo and get some of our rights back...
